We live and work in an era of shorthand communications. People are conditioned to be brief…using acronyms or abbreviations whenever possible to save time and reduce keystrokes on mobile devices.
But for those of us in business and marketing, acronyms can kill clarity, turn our communications into letter soup, and leave our audiences uninformed. It’s important that we take the time to ‘spell it out’ for the benefit of our staff, colleagues, clients and constituents. After all, we are the architects of clear communications.
It’s also good to stay current with business and marketing terms and their acronyms, since new ones are coined all the time. Knowing the jargon helps everyone speak the same language as we plan projects and campaigns with our internal teams and partners.
